The symbolic spectacles of our times as evil is on full display

If the release of Marina Abramovich’s ‘The Heroes’ wasn’t symbolic enough of the times we are living in, then the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham, U.K, on July 28 witnessed another rather unusual spectacle for a sporting event.

A 30ft animatronic ‘Raging Bull’ was lugged into the stadium with women actors who were the chain makers of the industrial era of Birmingham. The whole event was staged with such an obvious ominous presence that even the stadium went quiet as the hisses of the mechanical bull were released. The music was dark with long stretches of silence as when a bull walks into a ring and the crowd is hushed with anxiety.

The ’spectacle’ segment went on for more than ten minutes featuring the bull in different moods and reacting to the ‘events’ around. Stella the ‘hero’ or protagonist of the ceremony tamed it with a shard like object, and at one point it seemed she was almost touching the nose ring of the bull to calm it down.

From YouTube clips of attendees taken from the seats, one can sense the dry applause as people didn’t know what to make of it. Shock, weird depictions, evil worship? And to imagine children, teenagers and families who were there and as well as those who were watching it live at home and what were they making of the evil display.

A video feature also showed an explosion like scene that occurred in space on another planet and shards or pieces of an object like an asteroid were hurtling towards Earth straight for cities including Singapore, Varanasi and many more cities. What is the connection with a Raging Bull, asteroids hurtling towards Earth and the Commonwealth Games?

There will be quick connections to the bull being a depiction of the industrialisation of Birmingham or the bull being the 'guardian spirit' of Birmingham as stated by Iqbal Khan, Creative Director of the Raging Bull, or that the names of those who died in the 1974 Birmingham pub bombings were carved on the mask of the bull, which was mounted by a woman and two ‘angel’ like figures were air dropped and took the mask out.

The 2012 London Olympic Games ‘Isles of Wonder’ directed by Danny Boyle that featured hospital beds and an imposing demonic figure in black standing above the hospital beds already had a head start to such spectacles of evil display in public. Is it a 10-year celebration that we are offered yet another ominous spectacle that uses sporting events to herald the evil that is bubbling beneath the world and will soon take over control in full daylight?

The connection between the white horse of Marina Abramovich’s ‘The Heroes’ and the ‘Raging Bull’ of the Commonwealth games are clear representations of what the book of Revelation says about the first seal leading to a white horse and the bull being depicted by Ba’aal in the Old Testament.

It seems like the evil that was wrapped under the sheets for all these years is now being unfurled in broad daylight. It is almost as if they want the world to be curious about these symbols and to connect the dots and be lost in confusion and never come to the truth.

There will be large groups of the world’s population who might respond to the Raging Bull as another 'appropriate depiction and representation of Birmingham’, while another group will call a spade a spade and be quick to make a connection to the pure evil emanating from this display.

“A Birmingham 2022 spokesperson, in a statement, said the artistic intent behind the bull was to represent the historical hurts of the city, as shown by the headpiece.”

There wasn’t a need to create such a huge mechanical monolith weaved with undercurrents of evil worship. But this evil display is only the start of what is yet to come.
